You Are So Beautiful to Me for JustNick

Today I'm up on the JustNick blog sharing a soft and pretty layout with a photo of my grandmother when she was a baby in 1921.  She was precious!  She passed away in 2012, and I think of her daily.  I can't express how much I miss her.  She's the subject of my very first published layout as well, and I just realized I used Cocoa Vanilla Studio products for that layout, too.  Serendipity!

I show some close ups of this sweet layout on the JustNick blog, so please go over to take a peek and check out those gorgeous cut files I used!

Thank you so much for stopping by my little part of the blogosphere!

"Lovely" - Published in the Summer 2017 Issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine!

Hello scrappy friends!  Well, it's certainly been an interesting 4+ months living through a horrific flood from Hurricane Harvey.  I've missed you guys, and I hope I can hop back on the papercrafting saddle more consistently now.  Our home is still not finished, but we are making progress.  All in due time, and we appreciate everyone's prayers and thoughts.  <3

I wanted to share my very favorite layout that was published this past June in the Summer Issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today Magazine.  I was truly beyond excited about it!

I wanted to create a layout with my grandmother as the star.  She was the most beautiful ballerina, and she ended up owning and running her own dance studio that I practically grew up in.  I paired a black and white photo of her with the *stunning* Cocoa Vanilla Studio collection Wild at Heart.

The cut file is from Cocoa Vanilla Studio Colour Me Happy collection, and I also fussycut a lot of flowers to add in.  In addition to paper, enamel dots, and flowers from CVS, I used Thickers from American Crafts, a bow and gold heart from Crate Paper, and vellum and a fringed paper strip reminiscent of a ballerina's tutu.  Here are a few close ups.

I hope you all have a wonderful New Year's Eve...here's to a grand 2018!

Chocolate hugs,
Majken

Ninety Years Young! #TBT

Happy Thursday everyone-

Earlier this week I shared a fun photobomb layout and promised to post another project today in my #TBT series.

Today's Throwback Thursday project is of my grandmother "Mommo" at 90 years - we drove down to celebrate with her, and it meant so much to me to scrapbook that weekend with the whole family.  She's been gone only about 2 1/2 years, and I really, really miss her.  Here's my lovely grandmother.

I chose to use the My Mind's Eye So Sofie "Graceful" papers because not only did the colors match her outfit nicely, but my grandmother was truly a graceful woman.  She danced from a young age and owned a successful ballet studio most of her life.  She taught/choreographed ballet, tap, jazz and even had a musical theater class (yes, I participated. :)  I can still recite all the songs from Annie!).

Anyway, I included only some light embellishments with CTMH organdy ribbon along with a maroon brad and heart pin from Maya Road because I wanted the lovely photo to really stand out.

Here's one of her baby photos, and she was precious!

Don't forget to see some of my previous TBT posts, and have a wonderful day!

Chocolate and scrappy hugs,
Majken
