Wonderful | JustNick Studio Design Team

Happy Thursday crafty readers!  I'm sharing a scrapbook layout today on the JustNick Studio blog - head over for some close ups and details on how it came together!

I used a background cut file and an alpha cut file, along with the bold and colorful Amy Tan's Slice of Life collection by American Crafts to highlight this cute photo of a Sweet Shop we visited in Banff back during our family vacation in 2016 (best vacation EVER!). And of course I had to buy some chocolate yummies.  :)

Have a great week!

{Little Cuties} Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop!

Hello and happy Friday y'all!  Welcome, welcome.  You may have arrived today from Katrina's blog.  Her projects are amazing!  Glad you could stop by.  Today I'm sharing a layout using the Creative Scrappers April Sketch (which is FABULOUS!) and American Crafts Better Together collection.  And I have a giveaway!  Take a peek at my layout.  My nephew and niece are super cute!!

I started with some CTMH Outdoor Denim cardstock for the backdrop for these fun papers!  I created a quick template to cut the triangles using my Cameo because I'm not good with the diagonals using my Fiskers trimmer - ha!  I cut triangles from 3 papers and offset the stars and the hearts to be opposite each other.  I purposely left the right side blank to help show the title better.  And then I sewed along the inside edge of each triangle.

After matting and sewing the photos of those cuties, I popped it up with 3D foam.  Super fun!  And then I had a star party!  I cut several using my Cameo but I also put some star stickers, sequins, and enamel stars.

And then I put even more on!

Next I created the title using my Cameo to cut the "little" and some Thickers for "cuties".

I printed out some journaling strips and popped those up with 3D foam tape too.

I adore that star paper...must. buy. more!  ;)  Here's a quick look at the other embellishment areas.

And there you have it!  I had so much fun with this sketch, I hope you are inspired to create with it.

And now for the good part!  It's GIVEAWAY time!

Today I'm giving away a $15 gift certificate for Paper Issues so you can add to your crafty stash!  All you have to do is follow my blog using Google and/or Bloglovin over on the right of my blog plus follow me on Instagram.  If you are inclined to leave a comment, I'd love that too.  Super simple and easy peasy!  You have until Monday, May 2, 2016 to enter for your chance to win.  I will announce the winner on Tuesday, May 3rd.

She is my Sunshine -- My Scraps & More sketch 110 reveal

Hello out there!  Glad to be back on the blog today with the 2nd sketch reveal for July for My Scraps & More sketches.  Today's sketch was a fun one by Juliana Michaels.  When I saw the circles in the sketch, citrus immediately popped into my head!  I had just downloaded a free sketch file from Scrapbook & Cards Today with a citrus slice...perfect! I combined Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss and Amy Tan Rise & Shine (that I got from MSAM) for my layout. Take a look:

The first thing I did was cut two 4" citrus slices using white cardstock.  I cut two citrus "rinds" using the orange side of "Rachel" paper.  I then backed the inside of the slices with various papers from both collections.

I flicked some of Heidi Swapp's Patina Color Shine to my base, and then I sewed a long rectangle from the "Sour" paper to my white cardstock base.  Next I placed my citrus slices and sewed zig zag stitches to connect the inner and outer layers of the slices.

I placed buttons in the center of my slices for contrast.  I love the zig zag stitching!  Tip:  sew slowly when going in circles - it's easy to get off track.

I matted my two photos with white cardstock (which I inked the edges of using CTMH Creme Brulee ink for more contrast) and the heart paper from Rise & Shine.

I took the bar code strip from Citrus Bliss Sour and sewed it along the bottom to anchor my page.  I did a long strip of straight stitches and another strip of straight stitches with a small bit of zig zag on the right hand side.  I placed some of the Citrus Bliss Ephemera on top of the bottom strip.

For my title, I used some letters from Simple Stories and Authentique as well as the "Sunshine" from the Citrus Bliss Ephemera pack, which I popped up with some foam tape.

I used a small journal tag from the Ephemera pack, some sequins, and more Ephemera around the layout.

Below is Juliana's fun sketch...please create your own version and link up to the My Scraps & More Sketch blog for a chance to win the July prize!  Head over there now to take a look at the other designers' takes on her sketch, including her great layout of her pretty puppy!

Make it a fun weekend!  See you soon.

The Good Life -> My Scraps & More Sketch Design Team Introduction!

Hi everyone!

I'm SO EXCITED I was recently announced as part of the My Scraps & More sketch design team!  I'll be sharing layouts twice a month as part of my term, and I'd love you to play along.  My Scraps & More is a great online retail scrapbooking store with a ton of products from key manufacturers and owned by the very talented Audrey Yeager.

Today's layout was so fun to create - I was so inspired by Audrey's sketch!  I used two black & white photos that my best friend took of my kids in 2012 along with Amy Tan's Stitched collection.

As soon as I saw the sketch, I knew I wanted to use negative space for the icons.  The first thing I did was open Silhouette Studio and lay out the different shapes until they were in the right spots.  I used a rectangle the same size as my photos just for reference, and then moved the rectangles off the cutting area before cutting.

After I cut my white cardstock, I placed various papers behind the layout until I got the look I wanted.  Then I sewed along specific images, starting with the large star.  I sewed along the outside edge, and also the inside to give it texture.

To match the sketch, I sewed along the arrows as well, and I put my short journaling there to mark the date the photos were taken.

Next, I sewed around the other two stars, along the photo of my son, and around the arrow.  The photo mats are pocket scrapbooking spots trimmed from the Stitched Scissors paper.

To finish the layout, I trimmed 0.25" from the right and bottom and put the entire page onto the green stitched paper so it shows on the top and left sides, and then I framed the bottom right with a corner from the same.  Puffy stickers from the Stitched collection complete the flower centers and accents.  I added black alpha stickers to complete the title "The Good Life".

I hope this sketch and my interpretation has inspired you!  Go check out the full reveal for some other takes on the sketch, and don't forget to link up your version of the sketch to the My Scraps & More Sketch blog before midnight ET on March 31st for your chance at a great prize -> new stuff from the new BasicGrey Prism collection!

And here is the sketch.

Thanks for stopping by today...have a wonderful weekend!
