You Have My Whole Entire Heart | JustNick Design Team

A warm welcome back to you today, and welcome first-time visitors!  Today I'm continuing the February love-themed layouts and sharing my third of the month (which was shared yesterday on the JustNick blog).  

My husband and I took this selfie as we waited with the kids for Walt Disney World to open our first day visiting back in 2014.  It's one of my favorite snapshots of us!

I used three new cut files from JustNick and combined them with the gorgeous Heidi Swapp Hawthorne collection.  I can't stop staring at that ombre paper!!!  To get the cut files used on this layout and to see close ups, head over to the JustNick blog now.

Must Be Love | Paper House Productions Design Team

Hello again crafty friends!  I hope this week you are getting your fill of both necessities in life:  crafting and chocolate.  I know I am!  :)  Today we're continuing the love themed layouts, and I'm sharing this pretty layout using Paper House Productions Stargazer with all the purples!

I welded two cut files from Scrapbook & Cards Today together for this fun layout.  And I included two shaker hearts from Queen & Company, filled with fun sequins and beads.  Take a closer look:

Hi everyone!  Welcome to the month of love.  I have several love-themed layouts I'm going to share with you, and my first one is not your typical pink or red love layout.  :)  Check it out below, then hop over to the JustNick blog to see which cut files you can go grab, a fun technique, as well as close ups for detail.

Wasn't my Little Man adorable with his copper hair?  I paired these two new fun cut files with the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Boys Rule collection.  The colors are amazing, and fabulous boy layouts and more can be created with it.

{Smitten} using Simple Stories

Hello crafty friends!  

Do you ever have a collection on your desk after creating and can't bear to put it away yet?  That happened to me recently with the Simple Stories Love & Adore collection.  It's just so dang pretty!  I wanted to stay on the "love" theme but I needed a good photo.  My families' Facebook pages came to the rescue!

I created this layout of my niece and her husband on their one year anniversary.  Aren't they a cute couple??  And hugging in the snow makes them even cuter.

I also had most of a Bea Valint cut file left over after creating this layout of my husband and me on our wedding day.  They are certainly smitten with each other, so I had to choose that as my title.

Take a peek at the the final view of the cut file after matting behind the flowers and some sewing.

Here's a closer look at the photo area.  I popped up the flowers sticker for some depth and sewed in and around the photo mat for additional texture.

I used some of the phrase stickers too.

So go have fun with whatever collection is sitting on your desk - you won't regret not putting it away so soon. :)

Forever - Using Negative Die Cuts & Fancy Pants Designs Sweet Nothings

Hello lovely scrappy chocoholics!

Today I'm sharing a layout I shared the other day on Instagram.  I'd love you to follow me there if you aren't already!  I created a layout using the negative cut from this lovely Valentine/date night layout, also using Fancy Pants Designs' Sweet Nothings collection - it's so pretty!  I created a background of hearts cut file using a Scrapbook & Cards Today cut file from Feb. 2016.

Here is the full layout.  Please pardon the shadows - I popped up those hearts and you can't get away from photography shadows when you do that.  :)

 Isn't it fun?  I adore hearts...I remember filling up pages of notebook paper in junior high (and into college) with them.  I loved doodling them!

Scrappy tip:  When I cut out the original cut file, I used the cut file as a template for where to place the inside of the hearts to make sure they were centered.  You may not be able to tell in the photo above, but there's black cardstock under the Sweet Nothings hearts.  I wasn't yet sure how I was going to use it, so I went ahead and placed them with the original cut file as my guide.

I love sewing on my layouts, so when I cut the new hearts out I lightly scored them in the center and adhered them to the black hearts underneath.  Then I zig zag stitched down the center and pulled each side of the hearts up.  Here are some close ups.

 I love those puffy stickers in the collection too!

I tucked a tag behind the photo, which I printed out using my HP Sprocket pocket printer...it's so fun to use, and I didn't even need to use adhesive since each photo is backed with it already!

XOXOX | Create Your Own Embellishments - Fancy Pants Designs "Sweet Nothings"

Love is in the air!  Happy Valentine's day everyone.

Hubby and I recently have been going on a few fun date nights, and I thought I'd test out my new HP Sprocket pocket printer to create this heartfelt layout with the gorgeous Fancy Pants Designs "Sweet Nothings" collection.  <3 <3 <3

I had so much fun with this layout!  What better way to start a date night layout than with a hearts cut file?  I used the free hearts bonus cut file from Scrapbook & Cards Today February 2016 and merged two sets together to create the look I wanted, and then I cut my background from black textured cardstock using my Cameo.  The cool thing is I now have the negative cut to use on a second layout in the future!

I then used my Cameo to do an internal offset of the hearts, cut hearts out slightly smaller than the outlines with different patterned papers, and then adhered it all down.  And I love the textured look of stitching with cut files!

And my photo turned out just how I wanted it to!  The only thing I changed was muting the colors to near black and white so the blues in our clothes didn't clash with all the pretty reds and pinks in the papers.  I layered several different papers to create the photo mat.  I created scallops on the main pink piece and distressed the edges of another piece, then added more stitching.  I also added a little half-circle tab and a puffy sticker.

The puffy stickers in this collection are so fun!  I had to use them for my title on the bottom right corner, among other strategic spots.

When I was done, I felt it still needed a little something, so I stitched around the edges to give it a frame.

I also created a few of my own embellishment spots to help fill in some of the extra white space I had leftover.  Here's one in the top right corner I created with a puffy heart outline sticker, some paper, a piece of ephemera that I stitched, and another heart:

And here's one on the left that also has a quick journal spot.  I used two pieces of ephemera, a scalloped circle punch, stitching, a puffy sticker, and ribbon.

Finally, I created the one on the top left by cutting the bottom of a tag and layering a sticker on it.  Try to layer different sized pieces and different textures together and you'll always have a fun area of interest for your embellishment spots.

M Plus T

Hello and happy Monday everyone!  I hope you enjoyed Friday the 13th, followed by Pi day.  We celebrated with a couple of slices of pie from local bakery we like.  I could've made one, but then I would have kept eating it.  ;)

Well, like most of you out there in scrapbook- and papercrafting-land, I have a few favorite manufacturers.  You probably already know about my My Mind's Eye love.  But another favorite of mine is BasicGrey.  I love their collections...you even see one in my blog header.  :)  

Today I'm sharing a layout using BasicGrey's new Prism collection I got from My Scraps & More.

I fell in love with this photo Tim snapped our first day at Disney World, and rather than make the layout about our trip, I made it about us.  As I was looking for papers to scrap with this photo, I came across a brick wall pattern and got the idea to use a heart and initials just like you see scratched into a wall or a tree.  But as I kept working with the layout I had in my mind, I just couldn't make that paper fit.  And I recently got Prism, and I loved the small bits of blue in the collection that I felt would work with the blue in our shirts.  I decided to download a brick wall pattern from the Silhouette store and cut it on my Cameo to get the right look.  Once I had my background, I taped the template to my base, combined Teresa Collins modeling paste and paint to get the colors I wanted, and spread it on!

While that dried, I found the heart with arrow in the Silhouette Store as well.  I overlayed it on the brick wall pattern until I got the size I wanted, deleted the brick pattern, then cut the heart/arrow out using the black patterned paper from Prism.  With the rest of that paper, I made a frame for the white paper and sewed around the edges.  I then sewed in between the hearts and along the length of the arrow.

This was my first time using texture paste, and I LOVED it.  What great dimension, and you can give it any look you want with paint, inks, glitter, and more!  For my title, I couldn't find an alpha with any plus signs in them, but I came across the Amy Tan Kal Barteski thickers, which has a # sign.  I altered the # to become a +, and I love the look of the black Thickers on the textured bricks:

A few enamel dots, a couple of hearts, some stickers from the collection, and journaling inside the heart...and it came together pretty quickly.

{LOVE and be loved} - A Scrap Your Stash Blog Hop with Practical Scrappers -- And a Giveaway!!

Grab some chocolate...today I am sharing a layout based on the theme "Love" and using my stash of Pink Paislee "Secret Crush" collection (Heartbeat and Endless Love papers) and some Glitz Designs "Love You Madly" collection.  My daughter has a February birthday, and because she is my HEART, it's very fitting to use Valentine's themed papers for a layout.

This layout was incredibly fun to pull together.  I started with the Secret Crush papers and knew I wanted to use the side with the heart banners....ADORBS!  I trimmed the bottom off to create space for a heart footer.  I framed it by first inking all edges with CTMH Hollyhock ink and then matting it with CTMH Slate cardstock, leaving more room at the bottom. 

We had two photos from Presley's birthday dinner, and they fit nicely in the gray polka dot Secret Crush frame.  I created the pink polka dot frame from the other piece of Secret Crush I had because I wanted it to stand out from the distressed brown/gray polka dot background that I took from the Love You Madly paper pack (I popped up this photo with some 3D tape).  To create the bottom layer under the photos, I took a rectangle of the pink paper and cut the shallow triangle to create a banner look.  I took the triangle piece and moved it to the right of the photos to create the arrow effect.  I inked the edges with Slate ink, and then once I had the mat down, I machine stitched over it.

I concentrated on the footer next and used the CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge to create the solid and outline hearts using the same paper pieces used above.  I spread them out so no two patterns were near each other, and then I machine-sewed through them with gray and pink thread.  Aren't our silly faces funny??

I had a leftover Maya Road Vintage Heart clip on my desk, and when I put it on top of the solid heart, I loved how the shapes matched so well!!!

Once I had the base down, I focused on the embellishments.  The banner on the paper was pretty on its own, but I added some Slate polka dot washi tape, a few other hearts, some Basic Grey candy buttons, some leftover Studio Calico sequins, a "love" sticker from Jillibean Soup's Wise Words, the "we are perfect together" sticker from Pebbles, and stamped hearts and arrows.

Going through my stamp stash, I came across the "Love and be loved" stamp from CTMH's C1385 Charmed set (retired).  I cut the "Love" apart from the rest of the phrase (I LOVE being able to do that with acrylic stamps!) and then stamped the "and be loved" in Slate ink, followed by the "love" using Hollyhock ink.  Love this title!

I finished with some lace ribbon and other embellishments as well as journaling on the page with my thoughts on my daughter turning 12. I hope you were inspired by my project!

B-day Date Night

Hello everyone!  Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Today I'm excited to share with you a single-page layout, and there are two reasons I'm excited.  1) I'm primarily a 2-page scrapbooker and 2) the layout came together so quickly because the collection is so versatile!

Isn't this Bo Bunny Zip-A-Dee-Doodle collection super fun?  Let me share with you how quickly it came together, too. 

I started with a base of CTMH Black Cardstock, and I trimmed the Zip-A-Dee-Doodle Crackle page about a quarter inch of each side.  The Crackle base already had misting and doodles on it, so I trimmed the backside of the Zig Zag pattern to get the square with the circle in it.  I trimmed the circle out and set it aside.  The other 6x6 piece of Zig Zag became another layer, and I edged it with CTMH Black ink.  The next layer was another piece from the back side of Zig Zag, and I turned it sideways and covered part of the banner with my photo.

Once I layered it how I wanted it, I noted where I wanted to sew black zig zag with my sewing machine.  After sewing it, I put my layered pieces on and adhered them.

The finishing touches were adding a few of the dimensional stickers from the Zip-A-Dee-Doodle collection, some stamps (CTMH black and retired Moonstruck ink), a title using stickers from the Zip-A-Dee-Doodle Combo Sticker page, and some journaling.

I plan on creating a journaling page to go opposite this photo page.  It won't be a 2-page layout, but I'll coordinate the journaling page with the Zip-A-Dee-Doodle collection as well.
